Fathimath Shaazleen - Resort Manager
Fathimath Shaazleen, or Shaaz as she is known to her team, was born and bred in the Maldives. She graduated with a joint MBA from Cardiff Metropolitan University and the British School of Commerce in Colombo, Sri Lanka. She also attended one of the world’s most prestigious hospitality institutes at Cornell University.
Shaaz began her career at Veligandu Island Resort & Spa, one of the Maldives’ original resorts that drew visitors from across the oceans. She then worked at a number of eco-luxe Soneva properties. In 2005, Shaaz took over the Front Office of Huvafen Fushi, where Hollywood A-listers regularly jetted in and required the epitome of discretion, security and service.
With Dusit Thani’s foray into the Maldives, they called on Shaaz to set up their Rooms Division, recruiting and overseeing a staff of hundreds from around the world. She did the same again at the surreal Velaa Private Island, where the service is renowned and goes beyond all expectation.
In 2014, Shaaz was appointed Resort Manager at Minor Hotels’ Niyama Private Islands Maldives. Overseeing all aspects of day-to-day management, and leading the team by example, Shaaz helped cement Niyama’s positioning as a playground of abundance.
As Resort Manager of Naladhu since 2021, Shaaz remains an integral part of the Minor Hotels family. Her specialisation in operations is essential for ensuring Naladhu’s dedication to perfection, whether in the immaculate accommodations, tranquil ambience or discreet yet anticipatory butler service.
Shaaz brings a whole new level of dedication to her work, inspired by a pride in her country and passion to present it to the world. She is the Maldives’ greatest ambassador.
